I sure was hoping that today would be a better day than yesterday. Three hours of agonizing, wondering, second guessing, what about this one or that one, maybe, maybe not, should I, yes, no, next....ok just do it. Not to mention all the other stuff that goes through your mind while you are talking to someone. Here I am today after Four hours of the same stuff going through my head and I am thinking that I must be brain dead...or wait did I just say thinking? Then I must be brain tired!
When I set out this evening to just get my Five I was looking forward to an easier time than yesterday. Not! I spent most of my time at a different Wal Mart and got nothing from there, well not exactly nothing...I did get a lot of practice and a lot of no, not interested. So I finally made a decision to leave. When I got to my car I'll admit that I was disappointed and just sat there for a while with a lot of thoughts going through my head (no wonder I'm brain tired....I can't even remember the last time it has had this much exercise within a 48 hour time frame). Then I just asked God to lend me his ear and shoulder for a moment. My mind wondered back to the story that Ginny shared about getting her Five at the Chiropractors office and the struggle that Richard shared about juggling his schedule and still getting his Five so, once again I made a decision...I was not going home without my Five.
Here is where the fun starts to begin...I drove across the street to a 24 Hour Walgreen's Store and went inside took a look around and decided it didn't look too promising but I needed a new ink pin so I grabbed one and went to the cashier and asked if they took American Express. She called her Supervisor and told me yes. I said great, another store that accepts American Express cards which means more savings for me. If I told you, you could make money just buying stuff that you buy everyday anyway like groceries, gasoline, and ink pins like me - would you want to know how? She said yes! Then I picked up the Reality Boot Camp script from there and left the store with my first contact. Then as I was driving home I stopped at a gas station and spoke to the cashier there and left with my second contact. As I left the gas station I passed by a Waffle House that was lit up but had no customers inside. I thought that was a bit odd so I turned around to check it out. There were workers inside so I thought what have I got to lose. I still needed three more contacts so I went inside and had a great conversation with everyone working there this evening and left with three contacts. What a great bunch of young people and if any of you are reading this, I want to say Thanks Again to all of you. Y'all made my evening and I was able to continue on my journey home.
Overall, I will say that I enjoyed the day today better than yesterday even though it took longer to achieve my goal. Did I learn anything today? A resounding Yes!
- I learned that all this thinking just gets your brain exercised and too much thinking leads to an overworked brain...would this qualify for a brain freeze of a different nature?
- I learned that Decision or to just Decide is a key factor in your results. I say this because when I first got into my car upon leaving Wal Mart, I was thinking of calling it quits for the night and going straight home. Instead, I made a decision to stay the course until I got my five and in less than two hours I accomplished my goal.
- I learned that sometimes you have to be a little more creative in your introduction of the conversation. Of all the contacts received tonight, not one conversation started with "Hi, my name is Susan. Could I ask you a favor?"
